Mary Louise BushMary Louise Bush, 84, a life long resident of Crothersville, passed away at 5:15 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Louise was born on December 13, 1925 in Crothersville, Indiana to the parents of David Albert and Ethel (Gerrard) Broshears who are both deceased.

She was a 1943 Crothersville High School graduate and worked at the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville as a fancy stitcher and was a homemaker. Louise was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

On September 11, 1943 she married James R. Bush who preceded her in death on April 21, 1999.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Sue (Danny W.) Baker of Crothersville, a grandson, Todd (Jodie) Baker of Seymour, two great grandchildren, Allen Baker and Jaylee Baker both of Seymour, one brother, Robert Broshears of Crothersville, a sister Eva (Raymond) Sawyer & a sister-in-law, Lena Broshears both of Crothersville.

Phyllis J. (Rosemeyer) Hignite

Phyllis J. HignitePhyllis J. (Rosemeyer) Hignite, 75, a life long resident of the Crothersville area, raised in the Tampico area passed away at 1:05 AM on Monday, August 23, 2010 at her home in rural Crothersville.

Born August 6, 1935, in Tampico, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ervin “Butch” and Ines (Jones) Rosemeyer both who deceased.

Phyllis married Lester Hignite on July 7, 1956 at the Tampico Christian Church and preceded Phyllis in death.

She worked at Morgans packing company in the office after graduating from Tampico High School in 1953, worked at Cartwright’s Pharmacy, managed the Crothersville License Branch for several years, retired from Crothersville elementary School in 2000 where she worked as a librarian and a teacher’s aide for 25 years. Phyllis was employed at the Seymour Cracker Barrel for 10 years in the gift shop. Tanners Market in Crothersville was Phyllis’ last place of employment. While employed at her other jobs she also sold old Avon for 35 years.

Phyllis was a member of Tampico Christian Church, Tampico Lady Volunteers, Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Smiling Faces Home Ec Club, The Neighborhood Club, Avon presidents club.

Survivors include three daughters, Janie (Steve) La Master of Scottsburg, IN, Lisa (Kevin Lehew) Hackman of Paris Crossing, Indiana, Sandy Briner of Crothersville, six grandchildren, Cassie (Jeremiah) Justice of Crothersville, Andy Hackman of Tampico, Indiana, Ashleigh (Derick Lewis) Briner of Tampico, Indiana, Darin Briner of Crothersville, Steven La Master of Scottsburg, Indiana, Natosha La Master of Scottsburg, four great grandchildren, Dustin Justice, Oliva Justice, Eric Justice, Rayleigh Lewis, one sister, Darlene Rosemeyer of Crothersville, one step daughter, Berniece O’Broskey of Orange City, Florida, one neice, Elizabeth (George) Thompson of Little York, Indiana, one nephew, Joe Rosemeyer of Crothersville, two great nieces, Dedra & Megan Rosemeyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband & son-in-law, Steve Briner, and stepson Bruce Hignite.

Rev. Jim Lane, Rev. Rudolph Hamblin & Rev. Mike Hawkins will conduct funeral services, on Friday August 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Tampico Christian Church burial will follow at Russell Chapel Cemetery.

William E. “Bill” Banister

William E. "Bill" BanisterWilliam E. “Bill” Banister, 88, of Brownstown passed away at 7:24 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown, Indiana.

Born July 1,1922 in Crothersville, he was the son of the Late Morton Edward & Blanche (Berry) Banister.

On November 22,1943 he married Nellita “Kate” Craig in Crothersville, Indiana.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran 94th Infantry Division serving in W.W.II European Campaign. He was employed for 22 years at Arvin’s Industries until 1980 and then at Cummins retiring in 1983. He greatly enjoyed farming and his family.

He was a member of D.A.V. Post #7 of Seymour, Brownstown Christian Church, A past member of Brownstown Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his wife: Nellita “Kate” Banister of Brownstown, IN, A daughter: Cindy (Denny) Heiman of Brownstown, In, two son’s Randy Joe and David Lee Banister both of Brownstown, IN, two grandchildren Erica (Trent) Bohn of Brownstown, IN, Josh Banister of Brownstown, In, one great grandson Jake Bohn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson: T.J. Heiman, three brothers: Kenneth, Charles, Russell Bannister, two sisters: Louise Clark, Thelma Bannister.

Pastor Bob Manuel will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Crothersville V.F.W. Post #1082.

Bonnie J. BanksBonnie Jean “Stotts” Banks, 59, of Scottsburg passed away at 12:48 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Scottsburg, Indiana with family and friends by her side.

Born July 29, 1951 in Scottsburg, Indiana to Claude Holman Stotts and Mary White Stotts.

Bonnie was a 1969 Graduate of Austin High School and she was employed first at the Shoe Factory and then at Multi Color where she works in production for several years.

She attended Trinity House of Prayer in Austin, and loved collecting Shirley Temple dolls and Campbell soup memorabilia, she especially loved her family and children.

In 1974 she married Raymond Lee Banks in Austin Indiana he preceded her in death on December 15, 1976.

Her Father, and grandparents also preceded her in death.

Survivors include, a daughter: Misty S. (Chet) Hedrick of Crothersville, a son: Raymond L. “Brother” Banks of Scottsburg, her mother and stepfather: Mary White Stotts (Elisha) Mullins of Lexington, Indiana, two sisters: Carolyn l. Stotts of Austin, Anna K. Shelly of Evansville, Six step sisters: Brenda Barger, Barbara Smith, Joyce Campbell, Donna Moore all of Austin, Gearl Dean Williams of Scottsburg, Missy Robinson of Deputy, three step brothers Bradley Mullins of Springfield, Ohio, Tommy Mullins of Austin, Tim Mullins of Scottsburg, Four grandchildren, Raymond Tyler Banks, Morgan Leigh Banks, Laura Patience Collman, James Steven Collman.

Jerry W. HensleyJerry W. Hensley, 63, Paris Crossing, IN passed away at 6:46 PM on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at his companion’s home in Crothersville.

He was born January 14, 1947 in Harlan, KY to Roy and Nola (Brumett) Hensley. Jerry was raised in Paris Crossing and was a 1965 Crothersville High School graduate. He was employed at H.O. Canfields and also worked for the Railroad. Jerry enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting mushrooms, fishing, and was an avid UK fan.

Survived by his daughters, Robin D. (Tim) Nehrt, Crothersville, IN, Jamie R. Mull, Crothersville, IN, Melinda S. Hensley, Salem, IN, five grandchildren, Tiffany J. (David) Orrill, Scottsburg, IN, Shawn D. Hensley, Rebecca L. Hensley, Derek E. Mull, Ryan K. Mull, all of Crothersville, four brothers, Clyde (Ann) Hensley, Earl (Kathy) Hensley, Carl Hensley, all of Paris Crossing, IN, Ralph (Judy) Hensley, Winter Haven, FL and his girlfriend and companion, Ruth Campbell of Crothersville.

Four brothers, Roy, Billy, Otis, and Frank Hensley and his only sister, Barbara Ann Hensley, preceded Jerry in death.

Charles C. CashCharles C. Cash, 87, of Shelbyville, Indiana formerly of Crothersville, passed away at 2:39 AM on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He moved to Crothersville in 1975 from Indianapolis.

Born April 18, 1923 in Linton, Indiana he was the son of Eli and Cora E. (White) Cash who both are deceased.

Serving in the United States Army from 1943 until he was honorably discharged on December 23, 1944.

Charles married the former Zelma Morgan on September 7, 1953, she preceded Charles in death on November 6, 2002.

He was a member of VFW post 1083 in Crothersville, former Lions club member in Crothersville, active Lions club member in Shelbyville, successful businessman & entrepreneur, working in Hardware Sales in Indianapolis. In 1980 he started Mr. C’s Minimanykey Barn after taking the Foley-Belsaw locksmithing correspondence course. Charles owned and operated the business in Crothersville until moving to Shelbyville in 2006. He was always intrigued with furthering his knowledge in learning. Included are the certificates he has earned through his life time, Gosport High School Diploma, 1941, McCammon Course-Effective Speech Salesmanship & Human Relation, 1943, Lain Business College accounting, 1947, Boston Gear Works Sales Engineering, 1953, Arsenal Technical Evening School Hydraulics 1964, Reeves Institute of Mechanical Variable Speed 1965, Reliance Distributors Training 1966 &1967, Litton Power Transmission Division 1971, State of Indiana Real Estate course and license 1973, Hunters safety instructor 1977, Crothersville High School Adult computer class 1993, American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers Member 1999-2001, American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers Mastering the sole proprietorship tax return 2000.

His half sister, Ethel M. Rogers, preceded him in death.

Survivors include several nieces & nephews and great nieces & great nephews.

Cremation was chosen by Charles with a graveside memorial service to be held at the Crothersville Cemetery on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM.

Kendra (England) Smith

Kendra (England) SmithKendra England Smith, 47, of Seymour, IN, formerly of Crothersville, IN passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 9:09 AM at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, FL while on vacation.

Born November 10, 1962 in Seymour, Kendra was the daughter and only child of the late Kenneth “Sonny” England (July 29, 1998) and Norma (Napier) England who resides in Seymour.

Kendra graduated from Crothersville High School in 1981 and Watterson Business College. She was employed by Wal Mart Distribution where she worked in the traffic office as a secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crothersville, a 25 year Phi Beta Psi Sorority member, and served on the Crothersville Schools School Board from 2005 to 2008. Kendra worked on numerous charitable events thru her employer, Wal Mart Distribution, where she enjoyed being able to help others.

Kendra’s favorite pastime was shopping, taking walks on the beach and being around those that she loved, her family and friends. On November 27, 1999 Kendra married Lanny Smith who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include children, Meigan Smith (Josh) Vest, and Spencer Smith, all of Seymour, IN. She is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Jack N. Wray, 73, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away at 11:00 AM, July 5, 2010 at his home.

Born on April 26, 1937 in Crothersville, Indiana, he was the son of Lawrence and Nora (Greathouse) Wray who are both deceased.

He was of Baptist faith and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1956 – 1960.

Jack was a 1956 Crothersville High School graduate. He worked as an electrician after being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard. He enjoyed fishing, racing, animals & loved his family very much.

On June 23, 2001 he married Sharon (Collman) Wray at Uniontown Baptist Church who survives in Scottsburg, Indiana, where they have lived the last nine years.

Other survivors include a son, Roger Wray of Goose Creek, South Carolina, step children, Connie Lane of New Albany, Indiana, Thomas (Cindi) Huls of Austin, Indiana, Jon Huls of Scottsburg, Indiana, Five step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, two brothers, Chester Wray of Florida, and Robert Wray of Florida.

Two brothers, Dennis Wray and Larry Wray, preceded him in death.

Reverend David Schill will conduct funeral services at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Uniontown Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Uniontown Cemetery.

G. Jean (Carter) Tatlock, 71, of rural Crothersville, passed away at 6:45 PM on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Schneck Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born July 16, 1938 in Steubenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Alex White and Treva Brees.

She was a 1957 Muncie Central High School graduate, a licensed cosmetologist, worked in construction for T & F construction, worked for Schneck Medical Center in the food service department, and was an independent contractor for Sylvania light bulbs.

Jean was of the Nazarene faith and attended the former Russell Chapel Church.

Jean married Robert “Bob” Tatlock on December 30, 1978 who survives in rural Crothersville.

Other survivors include, six children, Jerry (Brenda) Powers, of Muncie, Indiana, Brenda Moore of Muncie, Indiana, David (Dana) Powers of Fishers, Indiana, Todd Powers of Muncie, Indiana, Teresa J. (Tatlock) Napier of Scottsburg, Indiana, Michelle Wilkes of Pensacola, Florida, thirteen grandchildren, Cyndi (Blake) Lucy, Bryan Powers, Kimberlee Moore, Bradley Moore, Christopher Moore, Shaun Moore, Brooke Powers, Heather Powers, Jason Powers, Rene Napier, Savannah Wilkes, Samuel Wilkes, Trinity Wilkes, six great-grandchildren, Aric Lucy, Madyson Moore, Masun Moore, Chase Moore, Tyler Moore, MacKencie Moore, two brothers, David Brees of New Jersey, Coy White of Colunbus, Ohio, two sisters, Janice (John) Drumm of Fredricksburg, Indiana, Esther Carson of Florida.

Daniel D. “Danny” Derringer, 60, of Crothersville, passed away at 6:40 PM on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Born November 5, 1949 in Austin, IN he was the son of Earl S. and Alma M. (Lee) Derringer who are both deceased.

Danny moved to Crothersville over 35 years ago. He was employed at the Town of Crothersville at the water treatment plant. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the Crothersville VFW post #1083. He graduated from Austin High School in 1968. Danny liked NASCAR and basketball and was a devoted IU fan.

He is survived by a son, Donnie Dale Price of Franklin, sister, Earleen (Ward) Bowen of Scottsburg, IN, brothers, Richard (Jackie) Derringer of Austin, IN, Charles E. Derringer of Chatsworth, GA, Earl (Brenda) Derringer of Seymour, Ricky (Patty) Derringer of Crothersville, IN, two half sisters, Jackie (Ronnie) Morris of Austin, IN, Kathy Sebastian of Scottsburg, IN and Five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Lee & Juanita Derringer.
